Does the musical director working on the show help you? P.S. I'm referring only to professional Equity theatre.

What song should I sing for my musical theatre intensive? I am a belter and need a fun song to sing for my musical theatre camp this summer. I have previously sang Out Tonight and Maureen's part in Take me or Leave me from Rent, and also Gimme Gimme and Not for the Life of Me from Thoroughly Modern Millie. Why do most gay men love musical theatre? I know this is something that is usally just kind of mentioned as a stereotype, but I'm curious: are there any historical reasons why gay men would be interested in musical theatre? My current research has given me a lot of information surrounding the gay rights movement of the 1970's and how that influenced the gay voice in musical theater, but I'm wondering why musicals in the first place? What is it specifically about musicals that has "captured" the gay audience, say as opposed to other forms of performance such as film and television or other types of theatre?
