- Rent some musicals like A Chorus Line or Chicago and see if anything strikes your fancy. But with that audience, maybe something from High School Musical would be good.
- My Fair Lady or Showboat would be good if you wanted classic. For contemporary I would say Songs for a New World: it has a ton of options for sopranos.
- If you really want to impress - go with Sondheim. In the show Company, there are several intense numbers that, if done well, bring down the house. Two that come to mind are Getting Married Today and Another Hundred People.
- If you have a really good pianist, I HIGHLY reccomend some Jason Robert Brown. He wrote "The Last Five Years", "Songs for a New World" and some others. "Songs" is really great. - Christmas Lullaby (it's not really Christmassy, but it kind of is- it is super pretty) - Stars and the Moon (it might be a little too mezzo for you, but that one is really pretty too) - I'd Give It All for You (Duet- if you wanted to do that) For Sopranos, there is always Phantom of the Opera. Overused, but always loved. There is a new musical, Spring Awakening, that has a great soprano piece, isn't too long, and really pretty. It's called "Mama Who Bore Me". Take a listen if you can find it online or something. Or another from that show, "Whispering," is really nice too. It's a bit sad, but it would show off your range nicely. I hope this helps. BREAK A LEG! I'll be rooting for you.
- Have you thought about glitter and be gay from Candide??? Can be VERY funny and dramatic (and we all know Sopranos love the drama!) Good Luck!!!
